Ministry of Public Works Discusses Creation of Telegram Group for Reporting Traffic Accidents

PHNOM PENH: The Ministry of Public Works and Transport is in discussions with the National Police Commissioner of the Ministry of Interior to promote the establishment of a Telegram group used for people to report traffic accidents.

The discussion comes after Prime Minister Hun Sen speech at the award ceremony of Petanque gold medalist Ouk Sreumom, instructing the Minister of Public Works and Transport to create such group in order to control and prevent road accidents.

Prime Minister Hun Sen has instructed the Minister of Public Works and Transport Sun Chanthol to hold talks with Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior Samdech Krala Hom Sar Kheng, to establish a free Telegram system for the public.

The group chat will be used for updating information on road traffic conditions to further accidents and violations of road traffic laws.

The meeting has also issued to review the program of deducting points and refilling points on driving licenses, the report on the strategy of electric vehicles and the progress of public service centers, the drafting of the road map network and preparations for the Ministry meeting.

In the occasion, Senior Minister Sun Chanthol said that the Ministry is in discussions with the National Police Commissioner General of the Ministry of Interior to promote the mechanism of using the Telegram system to be able to operate sustainably and maturely, making it easier for people to use.

He added the Ministry is also examining the possibility of incorporating some automated apps and mechanisms to make the management of data transmission and reception easier for relevant officers and policemen to manage and have data to create strategic plan.
